Sam Darnold Sister Franki Darnold Is A Former Student Athlete Who Played Volleyball

Sam Darnold sister Franki Darnold is a former student athlete. Franki played college volleyball for the Rhode Island Rams.

The former volleyball player is three years older than her brother. She was born in 1994 and turned 28 on the 26th of May, 2022. Likewise, the footballer is 25, born on the 5th of June 1997 in Capistrano Beach, Dana Point, California.

Athletics run through the veins of the Darnold family as their father played football at the University of Redlands, and their mother played volleyball at Long Beach Community College. Similarly, their late grandfather was a basketball and volleyball player.

Sam Darnold has an older sister Franki Darnold who played volleyball at the University of Rhode Island.

Franki spent three years playing club volleyball with T-Street Volleyball Club, two years for Saddleback Valley Volleyball Club, and a year for Laguna Beach Volleyball Club. Furthermore, she attended San Clemente High School and spent three-year as a varsity player.

The former volleyball player was a South Coast League Championship team member from 2008 to 2011, and she also participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Assisteens of Capistrano Valley.

Franki became the 10th player in Rhode Island's history to reach 1,000 kills in 2015.

Likewise, she began her first year for the Rams in 2012 and scored season-high 14 kills against Hofstra while appearing in 44 sets. During her sophomore year, the former athlete appeared in 112 sets and became the MVP of the Art Carmichael Invitational.

Similarly, she became the first Ram to earn Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team accolades in a decade and won the Elizabeth Holmes Award in 2016.

Franki Is The Senior PR Manager At Walker Sands

Franki is the senior PR manager at Walker Sands and joined the marketing agency in January 2022.

Before her current job, the senior PR manager worked for two years at a tech-focused marketing agency, March Communications. March Communications is now a part of Walker Sands, and there she served as its account coordinator and executive.

Franki is 28 years old former athlete who pursued a brief coaching career before starting her PR career.

Furthermore, Franki also joined head coach Steve Santonastaso’s staff at her alma mater and worked with the team’s outside hitters from 2017 to 2019. She graduated from Rhode Island with a degree in Writing and Rhetoric in 2016, where she also did a Sports Information Internship in 2015. 

Franki graduated as a student-athlete from the University of Rhode Island in 2016.

Likewise, she earned her Master’s degree in Communication Studies from the same university she received her undergraduate degree. Moreover, ahead of her coaching career, the former volleyball player is also a writer who worked for San Clemente Times from 2016 to 2019.

Sam And Franki Have Athletic Family

Sam and Franki were born to their beloved parents, Chris and Mike Darnold, in the United States.

Mike was a footballer in his prime, having spent four years at the University of Redlands. Likewise, Chris was a volleyball player and played college volleyball for Long Beach Community College, and she is now a physical education teacher at Shorecliffs Middle School. 

Sam had a birthday dinner with his family back home in 2016.

Sam played baseball and was the most valuable basketball player in high school before committing to play football like their father for his college career. After attending the University of Southern California, he won the Archie Griffin Award as a freshman and the New York Jets third overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Furthermore, the footballer plays quarterback in the National Football League for the Carolina Panthers.

Likewise, Franki played the same sport as their mother and served as a Graduate Assistant Volleyball Coach for two years. Moreover, their grandfather Dick Hammer was an American athlete, firefighter, and actor who attended and played basketball at the University of Southern California. Hammer was also a member of the 1964 Olympic volleyball team.
