Tatiana Sergeevna Kukanova grew up in the city of Penza, Russia. Her name would not have entered history if she had not decided to leave her native Republic of Azerbaijan after graduating from high school.
Kukanova enrolled at the Azarbaijan University of Oil and Chemistry in Baku, where, at the same time, 21-year-old Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who had already launched a genuine partisan struggle against the Portuguese colonialists in Angola, was studying there.

Jose continued his strenuous efforts to liberate the African state at university, even leading the corresponding circle he formed. While it is unknown whether Tatiana was a part of the circle, she and Dos Santos had a lot in common as they eventually got married in 1966.
Reportedly, the young people registered their relationship at the college but their marriage could not last long and they quit after 13 years of the wedding bell. The couple divorced in 1979 and had an only daughter, Isabel, during the time period of the marriage.

Jose Eduardo dos Santos has three wives and six children, one of whom was born out of wedlock. We have already mentioned his first wife, Russian-born Kukanova, whom he met while studying in Azerbaijan.
It is said that Santos’ personal life was no longer his own as he had attained the highest possible status and he was later forced to divorce his Russian wife, Tatiana Kukanova, and marry a native-born woman. Thus, the story of Santos and Kukanova’s relationship was over.
Their daughter, Isabel dos Santos is Africa’s richest woman whose current net worth is 2 billion USD. Jose and his family have accumulated a substantial personal fortune he amassed during his almost 4 decades-long reigns.

One of his children with Filomena Sousa was Jose Filomeno dos Santos who also served as Chair of Fundo Soberano de Angola. Likewise, his other child, Coreon D is an Angolan artist whom Jose had with Maria Luisa Abrantes Perdigo.
His last marriage was to Ana Paula dos Santos, a former fashion model and an air hostess. The couple married in 1991. Jose was a dominant figure in Angola who spoke Spanish, French, and Russian in addition to Portuguese.
Died on July 8, 2022, at the Teknon Medical Centre in Barcelona, Jose was fighting cancer and also had a cardiorespiratory arrest on June 23. He had been undergoing cancer treatment for several years before his death.
By the time of his death, the net worth of Jose, the father of the richest lady in Angola was estimated to be 3.5 billion USD.
