Marco Muzzo killed three children and their grandfather in a car accident in Vaughan, Ontario in 2015.
At the intersection of Kirby Road and Kipling Avenue north of Kleinburg, a minivan carrying six members of one family, including three children, their grandfather, grandmother, and great-grandmother, collided with a black SUV.
Muzzo was granted full parole following an emotional hearing in which family members of the four individuals killed in the crash he caused while driving under the influence testified.
He has changed himself sufficiently and has a suitable plan for release, according to the Parole Board of Canada hearing, which was conducted through Zoom.
Some of the rules prevent Muzzo from visiting Jennifer Neville-Lake and her husband Edward in York Region or Brampton. He is also prohibited from consuming alcohol.
Muzzo was sentenced to ten years in jail in 2016, the longest sentence for a drunk driver with no prior convictions who caused deaths.

Marco Muzzo was released from a minimum-security jail in May 2020 and has been living in a community facility apartment with strict rules, including no alcohol possession.

Those special conditions, which include no alcohol consumption, avoiding drinking establishments, avoiding direct or indirect contact with his victims, and not attending Brampton or York Region, are to be applied to his full parole, posing a challenge to his plans for where he will live and work in the future.
His statutory release date was June 18, 2022, while his warrant expiry date is July 28, 2025, the end of his term.
When granting Muzzo’s parole, the Board reminded him that the terms he is subjected to are not suggestions but must be followed.
Muzzo was three times over the legal drinking limit while driving, according to a toxicologist.
He pleaded guilty to four counts of driving while intoxicated that resulted in death and two counts of driving while intoxicated that resulted in bodily harm.
He was sentenced to ten years in prison in March 2016, as well as a 12-year driving ban that began only after his release.

Muzzo’s driving record will also be taken into account by the judge, Justice Michelle Fuerst. He was penalized ten times for speeding between 2003 and 2015, according to court papers. He has never been convicted of driving while intoxicated before.
When Muzzo’s SUV collided with the Neville-Lake family minivan on Sept. 27, 2015, he had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit.

Marco Muzzo, a drunk driver from the Toronto region who murdered three children and their grandfather in a high-profile incident, has been given full parole.
Marco Muzzo came before the Parole Board of Canada in a remote hearing where the victims’ devastated family described the enduring sadness from the 2015 incident.
He remarked before the ruling that while he can’t erase the past, he wishes to prevent others from making the same mistakes he did.

Muzzo was given a variety of restrictions by the board, including not drinking alcohol or going to bars or strip joints, as well as staying out of Brampton, Ont., and the York Regional Municipality. In addition, he has a 12-year driving prohibition.
In the September 2015 crash, nine-year-old Daniel Neville-Lake, his five-year-old brother Harrison, their two-year-old sister Milly, and the children’s 65-year-old grandfather, Gary Neville, were killed.
The parents of the children pleaded with the parole board not to grant Muzzo parole, claiming that he has not fully accepted responsibility or expressed sorrow for his acts.
They also requested that if Muzzo is granted full parole, he do it in another province so that they do not have to worry about running into him.
Edward Lake Father Of Three Children Suicide
Edward Lake, the husband of Jennifer Neville-Lake and father of three children killed by drunk driver Marco Muzzo, committed suicide on June 20.
On Father’s Day, Neville-Lake posted a picture of the children’s graves on Twitter, along with a message of grief.
The children were slain in September 2015 while returning to their Brampton home via Vaughan.
Since the crash, Edward has had suicidal thoughts and anxiety, according to a statement he gave before Muzzo’s sentencing. Muzzo was given full parole in February 2021.
