Sasot underwent genital repair surgery, gender reassignment surgery, and gender confirmation surgery a few years ago. She never felt enslaved by her body or as if there was something wrong with it.

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health presented her with the 2014 Harry Benjamin Distinguished Education and Campaigning Award.
This was done to honor her efforts for transgender equality and rights activism.
In 2017, she became the first Filipina transsexual woman to have a regular comment piece published in a Philippine newspaper.
