Abe was struck in the chest and neck by one of the two shots he fired, which caused him to fall to the ground. Reports state that Abe was gripping his chest as blood spilled from him and he collapsed.
The Police have detained Tetsuya for making “an attempt to kill.” According to a police investigation cited by NHK, Yamagami admitted to the investigators that he had a vendetta against Abe and had planned to assassinate him.

Videos showed a man who appeared to be Yamagami being tackled by security guards and wearing a grey T-shirt and beige pants.
