Where Is Adam Cheng Now? Lydia Tin Ha Sum Husband As Google Doodle Celebrates The Comedian

Born on 24 February 1947, Adam Cheng is at the age of 75 as of 2022. He still appears on big screens, just as he did when his acting career began in the 1970s. His most recent appearance was in the TV series Ever Night 2 in the year 2020.

Adam first appeared on TV in 1967 with a minuscule role in The Black Killer. He subsequently appeared in several other TV series, playing minor roles until 1992. His breakout performance came as Ding Hai, a recurring character, in the 1992 television series The Greed of Man. 

Later, Adam acquired recurring parts in other TV shows, including Instinct (1994) and Cold Blood Warm Heart (1996). Additionally, he also appeared in TV movies The Dark Tales (2001) and Saving General Yang (2013) and played episodic roles in the TV series Ever Night (2018) and Ever Night 2 (2020).

A highly publicized event in Adam Cheng’s life was his marriage to Hong Kong TV phenom Lydia Tin Ha Sum in 1985. Despite having a daughter together, Joyce Cheng, the couple split up in 1988, barely three years after their marriage. 

After their divorce, Cheng got married to Koon Jing-wah in 1980. With Koon, he shares two daughters: Cheng Wing-yan and Cheng Wing-Hei. These days, Cheng must be spending time with his family now as he does not appear that much on TV.

Sum had many health issues, including diabetes and liver cancer, which necessitated the removal of a third of the liver. Her condition gradually declined when she was sent to critical care in February 2008. 

She was surviving on life support, and when her family realized that the life support wouldn’t last a lifetime, they decided to turn it off. She passed away on 19 February 2008. Her remains were, however, transported to Burnaby’s Forest Lawn Memorial Park on 27 February for burial because her mother was buried at the same place. 

Regardless, her fans in Hongkong witnessed her funeral through a video broadcast at a memorial service held at the Hongkong Coliseum. 21 July 2022 marks the 77th birthday of the late comedian Lydia Tin Ha Sum. To signify the occasion, Google Doodle put a doodle of Lydia on their homepage in her remembrance.

Late Lydia Sum was born in 1945 and was already in show business while she was a teenager. At age 15, she signed on with Shaw Brothers, the most prominent film production firm in Hong Kong, and made her cinematic debut the same year. Her big break, however, came in 1967 when she was cast in the hit TVB variety show Enjoy Yourself Tonight. 

Her followers lovingly referred to sum as “Happy Fruit” and “Fei-Fei,” which translates to “fat fat.” She was noted for sporting her distinctive dark-rimmed spectacles and bouffant hairdo and playing up her bigger frame.

Credible sources have not yet disclosed the exact net worth of the actor and singer Adam Cheng. However, we can theorize it through his profession.

Adam is a TVB actor. A 2010 article released by a Hongkong magazine on the earnings of TVB actress Kate Tsui, who wasn’t quite well-known then, could be taken as a reference point to Adam’s income. She was reported to make 98,000 Singapore dollars from four films, 84,000 SGD from five television shows, 290,000 SDG from advertisements, and 270,000 SDG from road shows and worldwide marketing.

At the time, she wasn’t even a well-known actress; her yearly income was 751,000 SDG, around 538,772 US dollars. Referring to it, Adam must also have a net worth in six figures or even seven.
