Armand Duplantis Sister Johanna Duplantis Is The Youngest Pole Vaulter In The Family

Armand Duplantis and his pole vaulter sister Johanna Duplantis have three years of age gap. 20-year-old Johanna Duplantis belongs to an athletic family.

The Duplantis sibling’s father was a pole vaulter, and their mother was a heptathlete and volleyball player in their primes.

Moreover, the family has a history with Louisiana State University as Greg (father) attended and played for LSU, and his children also graduated from the same university he did. Johanna also chose to play for LSU like her brothers. 

Moreover, their older brothers Andreas and Antoine were also outstanding players during their collegiate careers. Andreas was a pole vaulter, but Antoine went to pursue a baseball career, unlike the other Duplantis.

Armand Duplantis sister Johanna Duplantis is a college athlete. Johanna pole vaults for LSU as a sophomore.

The 5 feet and 7 inches athlete played for Lafayette High School before enrolling at Louisiana State University, and she plans on majoring in business. 

Johanna during the outdoor season with 3.86 in pole vault in May 14, 2021. The qualifying limit for JEM is 4.00 and it is getting closer for her to qualify next season.

Johanna was a three-time LHSAA state champion in the pole vault with a personal best of 13′ in the pole vault, and while competing in her high school, she won a total of 16 event titles. 

Moreover, the young Duplantis was competing when she was eight and vaulted 7 feet. Likewise, she set a new class record of 12-foot-8 inches during the LHSAA state track championship in May 2021, topping the previous best by Fontainebleau’s Madison Heath of 12-7 set in 2014.

Armand And Johanna Followed Their Parents Footsteps

Armand and Johanna hail from an athletic family and have followed in their parent’s footsteps.

The sibling’s father, Greg Duplantis, of Cajun and Finnish descent, pole vaulted in his prime and had a personal best of 5.80 m (19 feet and 1⁄2 inches). Likewise, their mother, Helena (née Hedlund), with Swedish background, was a two-sport athlete for LSU and played volleyball and track & field.

Greg, who attended and played for Louisiana State University, still holds the Class 4A boys record of 17-0.5. Furthermore, as per The Advocate, the former pole vaulter went on to 19-foot heights as a professional at LSU. Thus, the younger Duplantis always had pressures to exceed their parent’s expectations, and they have never disappointed.

Johanna Is Youngest Among The Siblings

College athlete Johanna is the youngest pole vaulter in the Duplantis family. 

Johanna was born in 2002 to Greg Duplantis and Helena as one of their four children, and she is the only daughter in the household. Thus, her mom, dad, and siblings have showered her with unconditional love and support.

Furthermore, the pole vaulter marks her birthday on the 24th of September every year. She made an Instagram post during her 20th birthday and shared it was also a game day for the Fighting Tigers. 

Moreover, she is three years younger than her brother Armand. He was born in 1999 and turned 23 on the 10th of November, 2022. The 23-year-old also stands taller than his sister; his height is 5 feet 11.

Armand Also Has Two Brothers

Armand has two brothers, Andreas and Antoine Duplantis.

Since athletics runs in their family’s veins, the older Duplantis also pursued athletic careers. Andreas was a state meet champion at Lafayette High and a standout at LSU, having represented Sweden at the 2012 World Junior Championships and 2009 World Youth Championships.

Likewise, Antoine also pole vaulted like his father and brothers but chose to play baseball in high school before joining Louisiana State University. Furthermore, he became LSU baseball’s all-time leader in career hits, games played, base-on-balls, and triples during his college days.
