Berkmar High School At Lockdown Amid Shooting, What Happened?

Today, Berkmar High School received a call from the police after a gunshot was heard in the school area.

A report of a suspicious figure seen on one of the school’s sporting fields led to the first call to the authorities at the school around that time. As a precaution, the school was locked as police searched the building. There are rumors that the pupils at the school are safe and that an ongoing investigation is taking place, even though more information and specifics about the suspect are still unknown.

American high school Berkema High School is located in Lilburn, Georgia. There are about 2,912 pupils in classes 9 through 12, and according to rumors, everyone is currently safe.

Durant Williams serves as the school’s principal. To ease overcrowding at adjacent schools brought on by Gwinnett County expansion, the school opened in 1966. Secondary schools are adjacent to BHS, including Sweetwater Secondary and Berkmar Secondary.

A new school main entrance, gymnasium, two-story offices, classrooms, a media center, and an enhanced parking lot were added at Berkmar in 2002.

Three school buildings, two gymnasiums, a theater, and numerous portable classrooms are all present in Berkmar. Baseball diamonds, batting cages, softball diamonds, driving ranges, and four tennis courts are all located close to the football field. On top of a parking lot, a football training facility was constructed. Additionally, the classrooms became overcrowded due to the new football training facility.

Principal Al Taylor said in a letter to parents and guardians that the juvenile was taken into custody after administrators learned about the unloaded handgun following a shooting incident in Berkmar.

After searching the student, who made no threats, administrators discovered the firearm, according to Jorge Quintana, a Gwinnett County Public Schools spokesman. Police at the school has charged the teenager with having a weapon on school grounds and a gun during a minor.

While at other occasions in 2014, Berkmar High School on Pleasant Hill Road was briefly evacuated ostensibly due to a bomb threat. The event caused a delay in dismissal from the school, according to Gwinnett County Schools, but no other information was provided.

Berkmar High School speculated that there was a shooter in the school. He is still at large, and no arrest has been made. One Twitter user posted that there is an active shooter in the school.
