Tayson Hill finished his college studies at BYU, where he began his freshman season in 2012 as the Cougars’ No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart. Due to his athleticism, he was initially used in several short-yardage situations.

He concluded his freshman season playing six games with two starts, both of which were victories, before suffering a season-ending knee injury against Utah State.

 Before breaking his leg in 2014 and ending a second season, Hill was named BYU’s starter during his sophomore season in 2013. Then, in 2015, when playing Nebraska in the season opener, Hill sustained a Lisfranc fracture in his foot.
