Zach grew up playing hockey and baseball before switching to basketball before his sophomore year at Toronto’s Leaside High School.

He subsequently committed to Purdue and participated in all 28 games with two starts in 2020-21.

Edey was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team as a freshman after averaging 8.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game.

He also was one of just three freshmen in the country to average eight points and four rebounds per game, block 30 shots per game and shoot at least 57.5 percent from the floor.
