Who Was Fernanda Gil From Staten Island Crash? Obituary and Family Tribute

Three teenagers have died in a recent car crash on Staten Island. According to police, the crash occurred at the intersection of Hylan Boulevard and Richard Avenue in Tottenville around 8:50 p.m., in which a 15-year-old boy, a 15-year-old girl, and a 16-year-old girl were pronounced dead.

From 2014 to 2021, there have been reported 21 traffic fatalities along the boulevard. Let’s read further into the recent accident.

Who Was Fernanda Gill From Staten Island Crash? 

Fernanda Gill was one of the teenagers who lost her life in the Staten Island Crash. She was sitting in the front passenger seat and was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital North.

Along with Fernanda, two other teenagers who lost their lives were Jesie Gil and Ashley Rodriguez, both 15 years old. Talking about the incident, a 16-year-old boy was driving a 2018 Ford Mustang speedily east on Hylan Boulevard in Tottenville around 8:50 p.m on Sunday when he veered from the left lane into the right lane.

According to a preliminary NYPD investigation, a 47-year-old man in his 2017 GMC Yukon driving west on the boulevard made a left turn onto southbound Richard Avenue, striking the driver’s side of the Ford.

As these two vehicles collided, the Ford hit a tree and split into two halves, throwing the teenagers sitting in the back seat, Jesie, and Ashley. They both died on the spot, whereas the 16-year-old Fernanda Gill sitting in the front seat, was declared dead after taking her to the hospital.

The Ford vehicle not just crashed with the tree but uprooted it as well along with hitting a telephone pole as it mounted the sidewalk, causing all these deaths.

Obituary And Family Tribute; Fernanda Gill Was A Good Soul

While no details have yet been revealed about Fernanda Gill’s family, they must have been mourning the loss of their young daughter, and the same must be the case for the families of the other two teenagers.

Fortunately, the 16-year-old Mustang driver is now in stable condition even though he was critical when taken to the hospital. On the other hand, the GMC Yukon driver and his four passengers, a 44-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman, and an 11-year-old girl, all were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The police found that the Yukon driver was driving with a suspended license and arrested him later. Nevertheless, charges against him were still pending as of today morning.

The NYPD stated that they were unclear how fast the 16-year-old boy drove at the time of the crash and did not mention any charges against him. Following the incident, the city reduced the speed limit on Hylan Boulevard to 30 miles per hour as the spot has previously lodged many accidents.
