Ian Hutchinson Accident At TT: What Was The Cause Of His Leg Injury?

In June, during the 2017 Isle of Man TT race, Ian Hutchinson had a terrible accident where he injured his leg again, breaking his thighbone. 

Following the accident, his leg injury was so severe that he had his ankle removed and his leg lengthened. The cause of his leg injury was not just the recent Senior TT race on the Isle of Man but also the previous leg injuries sustained by the racer. 

The 16 times TT winner took to Twitter after the accident, saying that the cause of his accident was a punctured front tire which caused his leg injury. He tweeted, “Thanks to @manxathlete for the footage showing punctured deformed front tire. I didn’t stand a chance, the same leg, in a bad way. I’m gutted.

2017 was not the first time the English racer took an injury to his leg. Hutchy’s left leg has suffered a serious injury in the past, causing him to take a four-year gap. 

Despite the serious injury, several operations, and years of rehab later, he made his comeback. However, our miracle racer was again struck in the same leg during the TT race, but it didn’t stop him from racing again.

Ian Hutchinson is a professional motorcyclist who has participated in street races like ISle of Man TT, Ulster Grand Prix, and the North West 200.
