Fact Check: Is Christopher Bell Related To Joe Gibbs?

Christopher and Joe Gibbs are not related by blood, but they have a good relationship as a coach and teammates, as both are an internal part of Joe Gibbs Racing.

They are from a family who are natives of opposite sides of each other’s local place. Gibbs was born in Mocksville, North Carolina, Jackson Ceufud and Winnie Era Gibbs’ oldest son.

He was involved in athletic activities since childhood, so he directed his career toward sports and racing. He established himself as a sportsperson, playing American football, and also became an established racer who could start a racing company under his name.

On the other hand, Christopher is a native of Norman, Oklahoma, and spent most of his life in his birthplace. He was destined to become a famous face in the American racing industry as he had shown signs of being at the top of the league since his childhood.

He worked hard and proved his worth in front of the world as one of the most potent race drivers the country had ever seen. He made his NASCAR debut in  2015, and five years later, he got the chance to join the prestigious Joe Gibbs Ragings.

This was the beginning of the relationship between Bell and Gibbs, which is going smoothly. Both are highly professional in their career and view each other with optimal respect.

Christopher’s journey as a racer started in 2015. He made his Camping World Truck Series debut with seven races for Kyle Busch Motorsports starting in Iowa that year. His boss rewarded him with a fifth-place result.

He realized then that if he kept practicing in the future, he could advance to a much higher position, and the American racing sector was also flourishing.

He won the next two races at Rossburg, Ohio’s illustrious Eldora Speedway, where he led 106 laps en route to victory. Bobby Pierce, the runner-up, was his closest rival that day, with a lead of just 39.

In 2017, Bell qualified for the playoffs for the first time. He advanced to Championship 4. He would come in third place overall. He would win everything the following racing season.

He was crowned the series Rookie of the Year in 2018 after switching to Xfinity and established the single-season record with seven victories. He automatically qualified for the playoffs when he won for the first time at Richmond.

Bell made a strong push for the championship but came in fourth in Championship 4. He returned the next year and put up an impressive resume that included a career-best eight victories, 20 top-five, 21 top-ten finishes, and six pole positions to demonstrate that 2018 was not an aberration. Bell had a 9.1 average finish that year.

After that, in the coming years, he performed so well that many racing agencies, including Joe Gibbs Racing, competed to make him a part of their team. At that time, he was part of Leavine Family Racing, and for that reason, they announced that Bell would start driving the No. 95 Toyota in the Cup Series in 2020.

 Jason Ratcliff, his Xfinity crew chief, also joined the group. Bell achieved two top fives and seven top tens in the last season of LFR. He eventually finished 20th in the standings and was given a drive in the No. 20 for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2021. Since that, he has proved his worth for the company and is one of the most reputed drivers of Joe Gibbs Racing.
