Said Nurmagomedov is a famous Russian mixed martial artist currently competing as a bantamweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship who is rumored to be related to Khabib.

He won a unanimous decision against Luis Nogueira at WFC 42. He has been a professional competitor since 2009 and is a former AFC Bantamweight Champion.

Is Said Nurmagomedov Related to Khabib?

Said Nurmagomedov is not related to Khabib. They are not brothers or cousins but are part of an MMA Dynasty. 

Due to Said’s famous surname, many people thought he was related to the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov, and when Said signed with the UFC back in 2018, a lot of speculations arose. But in an interview with RT Sport back in 2018, Khabib clarified he was not related to Said.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is a former Russian professional mixed martial artist. The fighter competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight division, where he was the longest-serving UFC Lightweight Champion, having held the title from April 2018 to March 2021. 

He retired with an undefeated record with 29 wins and no losses. He is a two-time Combat Sambo World Champion and has a background in the disciplines of sambo, judo, and wrestling. 

Khabib was ranked #1 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings at the time of his retirement until being removed following his title vacation in March 2021.

Said Nurmagomedov has not revealed anything about his family to the world. The fighter has kept his family away from the spotlight and doesn’t seem to be interested in revealing their identity anytime soon.

He is a Russian mixed martial artist, so his parents must be from Russia.

Said has been a professional competitor since 2009, and he formerly competed for Absolute Championship Berkut and World Fighting Championship Akhmat. 

He is a former AFC Bantamweight Champion. While WCFA 35, he fought Anderson dos Santos and following several jumping knees in the clinch, he ended the fight by submission in the first round. 

UFC Debuts of Said Nurmagomedov

Said Nurmagomedov made his professional MMA debut in 2009 at World Ultimate Full Contact 15, facing the undefeated 4-0 Oscar Nave. 

After a three-year hiatus, he returned in 2012 at Vale Tudo 3 to fight the debuting Jolon Uulu Jayloobay. In 2013 he returned to welcome Akhmed Sarapov at Liga Kavkaz. 

In 2014, the martial artist signed with Absolute Championship Berkut. After signing, he first fought against the experienced Asulan Toktarbaev at the ACB 1 bantamweight Grand Prix. 

After two years, he moved to World Fighting Championship Akhmat, and he first fought against the veteran Diego Marlon. 

The professional MMA player made his promotional debut on July 14, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 133 against Justin Scoggins, which he won via split decision.

After winning, he next faced Ricardo Ramos on February 2, 2019, at UFC Fight Night 144. In December 2019, he faced Raoni Barcelos at UFC Fight Night 165, and he lost the fight via unanimous decision.

He faced promotional newcomer Mark Striegl, whose debut was delayed after testing positive for COVID-19, in October 2020, at UFC Fight Night 180. 

He was arranged to face Jack Shore at UFC Fight Night 191, but the MMA professional was pulled from the event due to visa issues and was replaced by Zviad Lazishvili.

On January 22, 2022, he faced Cody Stamann at UFC 270. This fight earned him the “Performance of the Night” award, and he won via submission in round one. Now, he is set up to face Douglas Silva de Andrade on July 9, 2022, at UFC on ESPN 39.
