Baylor Offensive Coordinator Jeff Grimes Shares Four Children With His Wife Sheri Hermesmeyer

Jeff Grimes and his wife, Sheri Grimes, have adopted their younger daughter from another country. Jeff Grimes has two daughters and two sons. 

Baylor University’s offensive coordinator has an incredible story of adoption to share. He and his wife share a common interest in making their family multi-ethnic and have always wanted to adopt. 

With over two and half decades as a football coach, Grimes is very much known for his excellent tactics and intelligent plays. However, the coach is also filled with equally proud work outside the football pitch. 

After three years as an offensive tackle at UTEP, Grimes became a football coach. He started his coaching career in 1995 for the Rice Owls. The offensive coordinator came into prominence during his time at BYU and LSU. 

Jeff Grimes has coached in seven bowl games in his career. He joined Baylor’s team in January 2021 and maintained a good record.

Jeff Grimes Wife Sheri Grimes Was A Former Volleyball Player

Jeff Grimes is married to his longtime partner, a former volleyball player, Sheri Grimes.

Moreover, she played volleyball for Texas A&M University during her college days. Her maiden name is Hermesmeyer. She played for the Aggies volleyball team from 1988 to 1991. However, she didn’t continue her career in sports after graduation. 

The two appeared together publicly during the coach’s tenure at LSU. The couple then talked about how sports have transformed them and their children into people adapting to different conditions. They are often subjected to migration because of Grimes’s job. 

The couple has been together for more than two decades. They share four wonderful children. The family currently resides in Texas.

Jeff Grimes Daughter Bailey Grimes Also Plays Volleyball

Jeff Grimes’s daughter Bailey Grimes played college volleyball. 

The offensive coordinator is a father of four. He has two sons, Garrison and Greydon, and two daughters, Bailey and Jada. 

Athletics seems to be running in the family as the coach’s daughter, Bailey, committed to volleyball at Southern Nazarene University. Grimes uploaded the news on Instagram with a photo of his daughter wearing SNU’s jersey.

He captioned, “So proud of my girl Bailey…committed to playing volleyball at Southern Nazarene University! #gostorm #boltsup #snuvolleyball.”

According to her bio at SNU, Bailey is passionate about volleyball, swimming, and running. Her high school career is one to watch for as she was selected for the All-State Team during her senior year. She was in the All-District Second Team as a sophomore.

After graduating high school in 2019, she started her college career at SNU. She appeared in 19 matches (9 starts) as a freshman. In sophomore year, Bailey started all 33 games and totaled 256 kills and 106 blocks. 

Furthermore, her senior year was one of the best seasons for an SNU athlete. She recorded 110 blocks, making her fourth in GAC. Also, she ranked second in the university, making 11 blocks in a single game.

Jeff Grimes Adpoted Daughter Story

Jeff and Sheri Grimes adopted a daughter from Ethiopia. Her name is Jada. 

The couple always wanted to adopt a child. One day, they put their feelings out in the open, and their synchronization amazed them. It was a mutual decision to adopt a child, but the couple didn’t express their desire initially. 

This led them to search for a child. They wanted diversity in the family and decided to adopt someone from Africa. After years of struggle, they found that they had been matched with a child in Ethiopia. 

And at the same time, Sheri Grimes suffered from a mysterious disease that halted the adoption process. But the illness didn’t take her desire to adopt. She perceived it as “a sign from God” to bring the child home.

As a result, the Grimes went to Africa and met the child’s biological mother. When they approached Jada, they could feel the bond straight away. She was just one year old at the time. 

“I couldn’t imagine what our life would be like without her, what our family would be like without her,” the coach describes his adopted daughter. He often refers to her as “the blessing.”
