Jim Seals From ‘Seals & Crofts’ Dies At The Age Of 80

The 70s soft rock duo Seals and Croft’s Jim Seals died at the age of 80 on June 6, 2022.

Seal and Crofts were made up of James Eugene “Jim” Seals and Darrell George “Dash.”

Jim Seals, the musician, was born on October 17, 1941, in Sidney, Texas, the U.S. He is best known for the hit “Summer Breeze” in 1972, “Diamond Girl” in 1973, and Get Closer” in 1976.

The musician’s every song got at its peak at the time with No.6 position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Though the duo band “Seals and Crofts” got banded in 1980 but briefly reunited from 1991 to 1992, and again reunited in 2004 when they released their final album after a long wait named “Traces.”

Jim Seal’s Death and His Early Career

Jim Seals passed away on June 6, 2022, in Nashville, and the cause of the death is still unknown.

The musician was one of the most wonderful singers and songwriters of his generation who wrote songs like Summer Breeze, Diamond Girl, Hummingbird, We Never Pass This Way Again, and Get Closer.

Seal & Crofts was a soft rock duo band with Jim Seals and Dash Crofts. The fun fact is that they were both from Texas, but Seals was from Sidney, whereas Crofts was from Cisco.

The duo first met at the time when Dash Croft was a drummer for a local band, while later on, Seals joined an outfit named Dean Beard and the Crew Cats, where he used to play sax. 

Later, Croft also joined that band where Seal was. After the band released “Tequila,” which reached the No. 1 position in 1958, they moved to Los Angeles to join Champs.

In 1961, Seals had a composition named “It’s Never Too Late” recorded by Brenda Lee that featured as the B-side of her U.S. Billboard No. 6 single, “You Can Depend on Me.”

” It’s Never Too Late” reached No. 101 position on Billboard and No. 100 position on Cash Box.

Later on, in 1963, Seals and Croft left Champs along with Glen Campell and Jerry Cole to form a band called Glen Campbell, but the band only lasted for a couple of years.

After that, Seals joined another band called The Dawn-Breakers, and Croft returned to Texas, but eventually, Croft returned to California to team up with Seals.

Thus, Seals and Croft became members of the Bahá’i Faith.

But The Drawn-Breaker failed, and Seals & Crofts decided to play as a duo where Seals played guitar, saxophone, and violin, whereas Crofts played guitar and mandolin.

Jim Seals Wife and Net Worth

The 80-year-old Seal was a married man, and his wife’s name was Ruby Jean Seals.

The musician had even written a song for her named “We May Never Pass This Way” and even on her name “Ruby Jean and Billie Lee.”

The net worth of Jim Seals was estimated at around $7 million

The primary source of income for Seals was his profession as a musician. 

He were not active on social media.
