Manny went on to lead SMC Tollways after serving as president of Ramon Ang’s Skyway O&M Corporation.
While at Skyway, he was in charge of overseeing the operations of tollways such as the NAIA Expressway, South Luzon Expressway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway among others.
Bonoan is a native of Ilocos Norte, Marcos’ home province.

The age of DPWH secretary Manny Bonoan is not known, however, he is thought to be in his early 50s.
On May 26, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. named SMC Tollways president and CEO Manny Bonoan as the next secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Bonoan would be a stranger to commanding the DPWH. From February to July 2007, he served as the Arroyo administration’s acting public works chief.
Before that, Bonoan worked as an assistant secretary under Ramos and then as an undersecretary under Estrada and Arroyo.
