Kimes is the only daughter of Peter Winston Kimes (father) and Sun-Min Kimes (mother). She was born to parents from two different cultures and has experienced Asian and American traditions.

According to Kimes, her father used to carry a faux leather briefcase that he had purchased in Korea and used to sport a weird blue hat that resembled an upside-down envelope.

“We lived in Arizona, where the roads extend as wide as a football pitch, and everyone calls cars trucks. I had inherited a Dodge Caravan, an unattractive green box that reeked like shin guards. Sun-Min Kimes, the mother of Mina Kimes, is of Korena descent. She is currently in her seventies but still looks so young due to her Asian genetics. Similarly, Mina has inherited many features from her mother, who she says has a warm personality.

According to Kimes, her mother influenced her to love sports. Her mom has a wholesome Twitter account which shows how much Sun-Min loves sports even in her seventies.

Mina Kimes has a loving elder brother named Issac Kimes. She spent most of her childhood with her brother in Arizona.

The ESPN journalist has a very close relationship with her brother still today. She even has a matching tattoo with her brother.

When Mina was a little child, she and her brother made a deal that if the Seahawks won the Super Bowl series, they would eventually get an identical tattoo to commemorate the occasion. They both engraved the tattoo with the character XLVIII after the victory inked on their right bicep.

In an interview with SONY ESPN, Mina said: “My older brother and I made a pact: If Seattle ever won the Super Bowl, we would get matching ink to commemorate the event.”

Kimes’ brother is an attorney by profession. He has earned a Doctor of Law degree from The University of Memphis.

Kimes is married to her handsome husband, Nick Sylvester. They wedded after dating for more than two years.

The couple exchanged their vows on September 19, 2015, at a grand ceremony in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

By profession, Nick is a musician and songwriter. He is the founder of God Mode, a Los Angeles-based development company. 

Sylvester has worked with artists like Yaeji, JPEGMAFIA, and Channel Tres. He also developed the music-related app BOUNCE.

Regarding his parents, Sylvester’s mother occasionally plays the Wurlitzer, while his father is a drummer. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States, he was born on July 6.

The musician began his career by performing with bands for weddings and bar mitzvahs. Then, he attended Harvard to study computer music. After that, he relocated to New York, where he met James Murphy, an American musician. Under Murphy’s guidance, Nick honed his abilities in music production and eventually co-founded Godmode Music with Tatya Ulitzer.

Since their meeting, Kimes has shared several images of Nick on her Instagram page. However, on June 28, 2012, she posted his picture for the first time. Likewise, they have also traveled to many exotic locations like Puerto Plata.

Kimes wants to be a mother in the future; she is a big admirer of kids and animals.
