Jalen Hurts was born in Houston, Texas to his mother Pamela, and father Averion. Hurts’ father, Averion, coached football at Channelview High School during his son’s time in high school.

Pamela is the Chair of the Special Services Department at Channelview and holds two degrees: a B.A. in Business Administration and an M.Sc. in Counseling. She teaches math special education at the school and mentors students in high school.

Hurts attended Channelview High School in Channelview, Texas. During his high school playing career, he earned a sophomore second-team all-district pick and a junior District 21-6A Overall MVP.

Throughout his high school career, he played against Texas A&M freshman standout running back Trayveon Williams. Hurts were regarded as a four-star prospect and considered one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the 2016 class.

Jalen’s Mother, Pamela Has Been A Big Supporter

Pamela has frequently supported her son at challenging times in his football career. His mother was there to cheer him on when he was outplayed during a national championship game against the Alabama Crimson Tide at halftime.

Jalen Hurts’ mother, Pamela Hurts, wrote on Facebook that her son had been controlled while playing for the Crimson Tide.

His Father, Averion Was A Head Coach At Channel View

Averion graduated from Channelview High School in Texas in 1986 and worked as a football coach. After playing four seasons at Lee HS in Baytown, Texas, he returned to his old school in 2006.

Hurts graduated from Howard Payne University in 1990, participating in the football and track & field departments. Averion was a coach throughout his son’s football career.

His Parents Split Their Time For Their Son’s Career

Jalen Hurts’ family attended their son’s football game every week. Weekend travel for Averion Sr. and Pamela became a little challenging because they have two children who play Division I college football, Averion Jr. at the FCS level and Jalen at the FBS.

When there was a travel difficulty on the weekends, one would go to Averion Jr.’s game. In contrast, the other went to Jalen’s, ensuring that either Averion Sr. or Pamela was present to support their children.

Averion, Jalen’s brother, was Texas Southern University’s starting quarterback and is currently the head coach of the University of Alabama’s football team. Averion Hurts is more than simply a devoted supporter and older brother. 

He knows how to play quarterback, oversaw his brother’s offseason exercises, and is often giving tips and feedback in everyday chats. As Texas Southern’s starting quarterback in his final game, Averion threw for 1,857 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He is now working to assist Jalen in any way he can while coaching at Alice Johnson Junior High in Texas. Averion Jr. graduated from Channelview in 2016 while Hurts graduated in December 2015.  

Averion is quick to criticize his brother when he feels the latter made a mistake or might have done so in a better way. Whenever Jalen comes home, he calls Averion on FaceTime to talk about the texts.

Jalen tends to agree with his brother’s criticisms. However, sometimes, he would clarify a feature of a particular play’s design that his brother was unaware of, as when Averion mentioned a run-pass option play earlier this season.

Averion attended the Alabama-LSU game in person with roughly ten other family members, making it likely one of his brother’s best performances as a passer at Alabama.

Jalen Hurts is currently single. However, he was in a relationship with Bry Burrow, whom he met while attending the University of Alabama from 2016 to 2019.

Bry Burrows’s full name is  Bryonna Nicole Rivera Burrows. According to her LinkedIn profile, she graduated from Kennesaw Mountain High School, where she won the Principal Leadership Award and the Most Spirited Award.

After finishing high school, Bry went to the University of Alabama to pursue her collegiate studies in political science. 

She studied at the University of Granada throughout the process, and in 2015 she got a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Latin American Literature.

Bry was one of the top university students and made the honor roll and dean’s list at the University of Alabama.

She was a member of several groups when she studied there, including the largest collegiate honor society, the Golden Key International Honor Society, which only accepts the top 15% of university students in terms of academic performance.

She also got recognition from organizations like The Elliot Society, Blue Key Honor Society, Order of Omega, Cardinal Key Honor Society, and Most Outstanding Junior.

Jalen Hurt agreed to a four-year, $6,025,171 deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, which included a $1,941,944 signing bonus, $2,825,815 in guarantees, and an average annual salary of $1,506,293.

He plays quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles and has a $6 million net worth. Hurts estimate that he spent around $165,000 of his football salary, of which $60,000 was donated to charity. Also, he was named the Maxwell Award and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award’s National Player of the Week.

Career Earning:

Hurts participated in powerlifting in addition to football. Hurts reached the regional finals in the 198-pound class while squatting 500 pounds as a sophomore in high school.

Hurts ranked at the top of the list of the NFL’s most athletic quarterbacks when his strength was considered in addition to his well-known running prowess.

While playing in high school, Hurts received a second-team all-district pick as a sophomore and was voted the District 21-6A Overall MVP. He competed to start the 2016 season as the quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.

The quarterback made history by becoming the first quarterback under Nick Saban’s coaching to rush for more than 11 touchdowns in a single campaign.

He was the first quarterback to run for 120 yards or more in multiple games and the first athlete in Alabama history to pass for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in the same game.

Hurts were chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He was promoted to a backup quarterback in Week 2 after being initially listed as Nate Sudfeld’s backup third-string quarterback, mainly so he could be used for quarterback running plays.

Hurts were decided to pursue against the New Orleans Saints in Week 14 on December 8, 2020. He switched his jersey number to 1, which became available after punter Cameron Johnston left the team.

New head coach Nick Sirianni selected Hurts to open the regular season on August 31, 2021. Following the Eagles’ 20-16 victory against the Washington Redskins in week 17 and victories over the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers, Hurts assisted in guiding the team to a playoff berth.

The quarterback received the 2021 Pro Bowl NFC alternate designation on December 23, 2021. Hurts led the team to a 38-35 victory in the season opener against the Detroit Lions by running for 90 yards, passing, and throwing for 243 yards.
