Devin Haney was born in San Francisco and raised in Oakland, California, before moving to Las Vegas with his father, Bill. Haney began boxing when he was seven years old. In April 2021, he turned to Islam.

Bill Haney is Devin Haney’s father, and Rene Haney is Devin’s mother. Devin Haney had a difficult childhood because his parents divorced before he was born. However, his familial troubles did not deter him from working hard, and the 23-year-old has deservedly gained a great deal of success.

His father, Bill Haney, exposed him to the beautiful science of boxing when he was very young. Devin and his father relocated to Las Vegas to pursue boxing more seriously. Bill Haney coached his son during his formative years, guiding him to a superb amateur record of 130 wins and eight losses.

Devin’s father, Bill Haney, is also his manager in addition to guiding him during his fights. More importantly, he is always there at press conferences and in his son’s corner during fights. Bill, on the other hand, was going to miss Devin’s undisputed title battle against George Kambosos Jr for the first time owing to visa complications.

Meet Devin Haney Brother

Devin Haney has two younger siblings and one older brother. His older brother’s name is Bill Haney Jr., his younger brother’s name is Sean, and his sister’s name is Arabella Haney.

Haney turned professional at the age of 17, but owing to the minimum age requirement, he was unable to compete in the United States, therefore his first four fights were held in Mexico.

He won the WBC Youth, IBF-USBA, IBF North American, WBC International, WBO Intercontinental, and WBA International lightweight titles at the regional level.

On January 11, 2019, Haney dominated Xolisani Ndongeni in a 10-round unanimous decision victory.

Devin Haney Ethnicity Revealed

Devin Haney is of American ethnicity. After previous WBC lightweight champion, Vasiliy Lomachenko was promoted to “Franchise Champion” by the WBC in October 2019, Haney became the youngest world champion in boxing when he was elevated as the WBC lightweight champion.

Haney won seven National titles as an amateur. Devin became the youngest boxer to win the Youth World Championships in Reno in January 2015, at the age of 17.

Before going professional in 2015 at the age of 17, he had a 138–8 amateur record. Two of the eight defeats came at the hands of his current amateur foe Ryan Garcia, with whom he has fought four times and won twice.
