Ryan Day Parents And Family Background, Where Is Ohio Coach From?

Ryan is an American national born and raised in Manchester, New Hampshire. He comes from a family who are considered white Americans.

He is believed to be a Christian, but he has never publicly stated his religious views.

The Ohio State head coach had a very traumatic childhood. His father took his own life when he was 9, and since then, his mother has raised him and his two brothers on her own. He is an advocate of mental health issues and never fails an opportunity to help others who could be saved from the devastating situation he went through as a victim of mental illness.

He transformed from a young child filled with resentment and jealousy to an adult who now recognizes the terrible impact that mental illness can have on the person and the family. In addition, he wanted to minimize the stereotype that today’s youngsters still associate with experiencing and freely discussing mental illness.

Mr. Day married his childhood love, Christina Ourania Spirou, in 2005.

They met each other while teamed up on the same team in a tee-ball game. He calls his wife by her pet name, Nina, which is more popular than her actual name. Nina is a year older than her husband.

The Day couple lives peacefully, sharing a happy life at their home in Ohio. There are five members altogether in their family, including their kids: Ourania, Grace, and Ryan Jr.

Ryan and Nina graduated from the same college. She studied communications as a major at New Hemisphere University. She worked as adjunct faculty after graduating from college. With a promising career ahead of her, Nina was motivated, but she chose her family. Nevertheless, she contributed significantly to her husband’s successful profession using her skills and experiences.

Day was born on March 12, 1979, in Manchester, New Hampshire, to his parents, Raymond Day and Lisa Day. Unfortunately, he couldn’t experience his father’s love as Mr. Raymond passed away when Ryan was a young child. As a result, he had a tough and traumatic childhood, which led him to suffer from mental health issues. 

When Day’s father took his own life on January 20, 1988, he was left to be raised by his single mother. Day’s father passed away when he was nine, leaving him with two younger brothers, Chris, seven, and Tim, five.

Professionals helped him deal with his mental issues in adulthood, and he believes that many people still don’t want to express their issues to the public and keep them up to themselves.

Ryan sees this as a big issue and believes there must exist a solution to this problem. This is why he spends his life savings and earnings to support the organizations that work on eradicating this kind of issue faced by mental health victims.
