Vicky Hawkesworth Will Replace Scott Mills As Radio 1 Presenter

Scott Mills left BBC Radio 1 in earlier June 2022. He served the broadcaster for more than 24 years. As per the reports, the legendary DJ will be heading to Radio 2, where he will take over Steve Wright’s afternoon show. 

Nevertheless, BBC Radio 1 has already announced that Vicky Hawkesworth will join the new team. Get details about her below.

Radio 1: Vicky Hawkesworth Will Replace Scott Mills As Presenter

Radio 1 has announced that Scott Mill’s replacement will be Vicky Hawkesworth and Dean McCullough.

As announced by the BBC, the pair will be part of a new afternoon show. They will be hosting the station’s latest weekday program, which will come from outside London.

 

Vicky and Dean will both are experienced, radio professionals. Previously, Dean presented his morning show on the first Radio 1 program. He had moved out of London as a part of BBCs across plans. 

The new duo will stay in Greater Manchester when they take over Steve’s working days slot of 13:00 to 15:30. They will appear in a new show in September 2022.

Vicky is pleased about joining the show. Talking to Scott and Chris on Radio 1 earlier, she said: “It seems not real. I thought maybe I was making it up; perhaps I dreamt it. 

Who Is Vicky Hawkesworth?

Vicky Hawkesworth is a radio presenter for BBC Radio 1. She was 26 years of age, born in Bolton.

Hawkesworth regularly presents on BBC Radio Manchester. She got her first break on Radio 1 as a part of the 2020 Christmas Takeover.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she also presents at The Manc Group and Gaydio at her parties. Her most valuable time was when she served for the Global Network as a broadcast assistant. She has previously worked for radios like Durham Onai, 96.5 Bolton FM, Shock Radio, and Communicorp UK.

She worked briefly with Joel and Lorna on the Rob Ellis show and Heart North West as assistant morning producer.

Vicky completed her graduation from the University of Salford.
