Hayley Scamurra was born in 1994, the year South Africa held its first interracial national election, to parents Peter Scamurra and Rebecca Scamurra, nicknamed Becky Scamurra, in the historic village of New York state called Williamsville.
Hayley Scamurra came like the perfect early Christmas gift on December 14 to her family. Their house is located just outside of Buffalo. Her family has a strong connection with Hockey.
Her father, Peter Scamurra, played for the Washington Capitals for five years, becoming the first athlete born in Buffalo to play in the NHL. He first picked up an ice hockey stick in fifth grade while attending Nichols School.
He attended Amherst Central High School, where he became one of the top ten tennis players, even going on to win the Erie County Interscholastic Conference first singles tennis title.
