Born in Westbury, New York, on the 22nd of September 1958, Cavuto was raised in Danbury, Connecticut, and attended Immaculate High School. 

While attending high school, he worked as a fish and chips restaurant manager. Neil earned his Bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University in 1980 and a Master’s degree from American University.

Neil got diagnosed with a type of cancer, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, that attacks the body’s immune system after he graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1980.

He received radiation and chemotherapy to cure the illness, but after ten years, he began experiencing symptoms again due to a degenerative neurological disease, multiple sclerosis.
