Angoor is a 1982 Hindi-language comedy film in India. Gulzar directs the film, which stars Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma in dual roles.
It is a reimagining of the Indian film Do Dooni Char, which was a film adaptation of the 1963 Bengali language classic film Bhranti Bilas, which is based on Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar’s Bengali novel of the same title, which is premised on Shakespeare’s play The Comedy of Errors and is being adapted as Cirkus by Rohit Shetty.

The film is about two sets of identical twins who were separated at birth and also how their lives unravel when they meet as adults. Who Is Egeon From The Comedy Of Errors
Egeon, a trader from Syracuse, is captured at Ephesus due to conflicts between the two towns and sentenced to death since he is unable to pay the local ransom.
He reveals to the duke, Solinus, his tragic story: he and his wife were shipwrecked with their newborn boys, identical twins, and a pair of infant maids, also identical twins, years before.
The parents, who each had a kid and a servant, were rescued but later divorced. Egeon’s son, Antipholus of Syracuse, Egeon’s son, has been looking for his mother and sibling for five years, while Egeon has been looking for his missing son. Solinus grants Egeon a day’s reprieve to earn the ransom money.

The character story development of Egeon is very inspiring. In The Comedy of Errors, Egeon is the first important character to emerge.
His sob story in Act 1, Scene 1 offers most of the history required to understand the storyline. Despite his ordeal and the fact that he is about to be executed, Egeon maintains his dignity and asks simply for a quick death.
Egeon is offstage for virtually the entire play after the first scene; his sons and slaves have no idea he is in Ephesus at all, let alone on death row. Egeon sees his boys completely by chance while on his way to being killed.
