Why Did Rukawa Died In Slam Dunk? Death Cause An Internal Hemorrhage

Rukawa, one of the notable characters in the Slam Dunk manga and anime series from Japan, is notoriously known for his fierce character and basketball skills. 

He was a very reserved, arrogant, and slightly smug young man who saw himself as one of the greatest players in history. Rukawa debuted in the first episode of the anima, and Janapese voice actor, Hikaru Midorikawa, gave his voice in the series.

Why Did Rukawa Died In Slam Dunk?

It is Hanamichi Sakuragi who died instead of Rukawana of Slam Dunk. As people are fantasized about the character of Sakuragi in the anime series, the fact that he also exists in real life will blow your mind. He had a tragic death at the age of 18 in Tokyo. He got off the bus and was about to cross the street to the hospital when a fast-moving automobile slammed him.

Despite having a “body of steel,” the impact was simply too significant. Pedestrians brought him to the hospital when he passed out. Unfortunately, it was too late; before they could take him to the operating room, he passed away at 18 from an internal hemorrhage.

Death Cause Internal Hemorrhage

Hanamichi Sakuragi was born in a working-class family in 1968. His mother died when he was pretty young, and since he no longer has her affection, he turns to street fights to get his troubles taken care of.

At the age of 12, he stood as tall as an average of 1.75 meters, and through his bouts, his body started to develop force and a lot of resistance. He once got into a fight with other students in the University of Tokyo’s sports area, and the basketball team’s coach invited him to join the league because of his fighting skills, speed, and extreme toughness.

The ex-street fighter showed real skill on the court and impressed everyone with his excellent physique and playing techniques. He was known as “The Hope of the Japanese Basketball” In Japan at that period.

However, a year later, its father developed a disease. Hanamichi left to take care of his family. He got off the bus in Tokyo and was about to cross the street to the hospital when a fast-moving automobile struck him. He was sent to hospital immediately but sadly passed away because of an internal hemorrhage. 

What Is Slam Dunk?

In late 1990, Takehiko Inoue, a Japanese anime writer, started working on a project named Slam Dunk, which revolved around the character of Rukawa. Takehiko Inoue created a sports-themed manga series about the basketball squad from Shhoku High School.

It was first published in serial form in Shueisha’s Weekly Shnen Jump in Japan from 1990 to 1996. Toei Animation also turned it into an anime series, which was shown worldwide and was very well received, especially in Asia and Europe.

Inoue later used basketball as the central theme in the manga series Real and Buzzer Beater. The Japan Basketball Association gave Inoue special recognition in 2010 for his contributions to the growth of basketball in Japan.

Hanamichi Sakuragi’s Character In Slam Dunk

Hanamichi Sakuragi, who begins as an outcast and becomes a gang boss, is the main character in Slam Dunk. Hanamichi, who is notoriously unpopular with girls and wears jersey number 10 for Shohoku, has been turned down fifty times.

Nevertheless, he learns that Haruko Akagi is the woman of his dreams and is delighted to discover that she is not afraid of him like all the other women he has asked out.

Slam Dunk As Anime

The TV Asahi terrestrial television network and Toei Animation created a 101-episode anime series under the direction of Nobutaka Nishizawa. It debuted on TV Asahi on October 16, 1993, and ran there until March 23, 1996.

It was subsequently broadcast on the satellite television network Animax, and the four animated films were created. The National Tournament matches are not included in the anime, which follows the manga’s plot.

Toei collected the episodes into a collection of seventeen DVDs published in Japan between December 10, 2004, and May 21, 2005. In 2008, Toei once more packaged the series into three DVD sets. There are a total of seventeen discs in the three boxes.
