Barnabas Szollos is a Hungarian-born Israeli alpinist from Budapest, Hungary, chosen to represent Israel in the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Barnabas and his sister Noa have been selected to represent Israel in the 2022 Olympics. They will compete in all five individual alpine skiing events, including downhill and slalom races.

Though the men and women compete separately, each hopes to beat the other and take home bragging rights. Noa, 19, had held the bragging rights for more than a year after surpassing Barnabas seventh-place finish at the Youth Olympics by winning bronze and silver medals in 2020.

Barnabas Szollos is an Israeli alpinist skier who moved to Hungary at a very young age with his family.

He was born in 1998, the year the film Titanic became the first movie to gross $1 billion, making him 23 years of age. 

As soon as he and his siblings could walk, his father put them on skis. Noa, his younger sister, was two years old when she tried skiing for the first time.

His father, Peter Szollos, relocated the entire family to Austria when they were children to be closer to the slopes.

Barnabas Szollos was born to parents Peter Szollos and Dora Szollos in the year 1998. Barnabas has two siblings, an older brother and a younger sister, both alpine ski racer. 

Benjamin Szollos, his older brother, competed in five World Championships, finishing 21st in Alpine combined in 2021 at Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Barnabas Szollos and his sister, alpine ski racer Noa Szollos, were chosen to compete for Israel in the 2022 Winter Olympics by the Israeli Olympic Committee. 

The three siblings were raised in Austria and trained by their Hungarian-Israeli father Peter Szollos. Their father is a former Alpine ski racer who finished 37th in slalom at the 1993 World Championships in Moriola/Shizukuishi.
