While the 4th of July is independence day for many netizens, it is the Back It Up Terry meme anniversary for some. The viral moment not only brought happiness among viewers but also to the star of the video, Antario Davis.

After his clip went popular on social media, Davis found the long-lost hope in his life.

July 4 Tradition: Where Is Back It Up Terry Now?

July 4 star Back It Up Terry star Antario Davis’s viral video brought him both fame and fortune. He is now getting better, trying to spread happiness around him.

The online sensation has been limited to his wheelchair for a decade now. Apparently, he suffered an accidental slip and hit his lower back and neck while he was getting out of the tub. This led to a serious spinal cord injury and diminished his ability to walk.

Prior to the incident, Antraio used to be a very active man. His mother described the moment as “it took a lot of his spirit away.”

The viral moment came at the right time. Davis got mentally healed after getting flooded with all love and support from his fans. During a recent interview, he said, “I want to thank all of my fans that’s out there that’s helping me with getting myself back up to where I was because I was just in a depressive state. I’m better now.”

In 2019, he even received a new wheelchair following a GodFundMe campaign.

Back It Up Terry Video Still Fresh Among Fans

Despite being a five-year old meme, the Back It Up Terry video is still fresh among fans.

In the video, Davis lights a firecracker with help from his friends. However, just like in horror movies, when the car stops during terrifying moments, Antario’s wheelchair stalls after the firecracker lights up.

His friend and the person who took the video can be heard shouting, “Back Up, Terry,” multiple times. Similarly, he also exclaims, “Put It In Reverse, Terry!”.

However, poor Terry is forced to stay by the fireworks. The wheelchair only starts moving some seconds after the fireworks.

Beyond Back It Up Terry Meme on Social Media

Besides the viral moment, Back It Up Terry is also a meme moment for many Reddit and Twitter users.

As of 2022, the youtube short of the video alone has 13 million views. Moreover, it has also become a July 4 tradition to come back to the video every year.

On the other hand, Terry still struggles with some of the day-to-day things in his life. Despite his new support, his wheelchair is too big for him to move around. Similarly, his van is also causing him problems lately.

Nevertheless, Davis is positive about the future. His friends and family are planning to gift him a van and a trip very soon.

The online star has also warned people around him as they celebrate July 4 with firecrackers. Talking about the crackers, he said to his fans, “Be careful everybody from experience from myself. Be extra careful.”
