Update: Ravens DE Calais Campbell Surgery After Infection And Health Now

Calais Campbell had to undergo surgery for his infection on October 26. The 36-year-old NFL veteran gave a health update to ESPN and said he has now made a full recovery and is ready to play against the New Orleans Saints.

Ravens DE Calais Campbell, after his surgery, remained away from the action for the past two weeks. Campbell missed out on the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which his team won with a close scoreline of 27-22.

The seasoned veteran Campbell was not seen in the injury sheet tweeted by the Baltimore Ravens last night, giving fans hope that their team’s most experienced defensive player will be in action on Monday.

Speaking to ESPN, Campbell seemed in good spirits, said he felt good and was back to his usual self. Campbell remains one of the only four NFL players to record at least 700 tackles and 85 sacks since 2000.

 Calais Campbell had surgery to treat his infection. The defensive end was unavailable for the match last week against Tampa Bay after being listed with health issues on the team sheet.

Speaking to ESPN, Campbell said he underwent surgery to remove an infection on October 26, but the DE refused to go in-depth about his surgery which he admits was scary at the beginning.

The NFL veteran said, “I had an infection that required surgery to remove; that’s why it was pretty bad. In the moment … yeah, that’s scary.” But not to worry, any Ravens fan, the DE has recovered to full health now.

But the 36-year-old did say that he worried at that moment that it could be something that might take him longer to recover. But his doctors have given him the green light to participate in team activities.

The ever-so-reliable Calais Campbell has had a fantastic track record for staying out of injuries. The last time he had to go under the knife was on February 4, 2015, for an inguinal groin sports hernia.

The 6ft 8 inches tall Calais Campbell’s last involvement was on October 23 in the victory against the Cleveland Browns, in which he made four tackles and a sack.

With Campbell back to full strength and assuring the fans that he doesn’t feel any different, he will be looking to start the game against New Saint Orleans on Monday night.

Campbell’s playing career began at South High School in Denver, Colorado, and he soon became the most sought prospect in the nation. And after many colleges lined up for his signature, the DE of the Ravens chose to sign for Miami.

And after a decade of playing at the Arizona Cardinals and Jacksonville Jaguars, Campbell made his way to the Ravens. He recorded his first sack for them in the Week 2 of the 2020 season against Houston, Texas.

Campbell is likely to retire with the Ravens as he signed a two-year deal with them earlier this year. He has made three sacks this season, along with ten solo tackles.

The defensive end had been listed on the injury report the next day after the win against the Browns and missed all three team practices for the match against Tampa Bay.

But now Campbell is all geared up to face Dennis Allen and his men, who had a comfortable victory against the Raiders on October 30. Campbell remains the only active player in the NFL to play at least 200 career games.
