Jeff Pegues, 51, stated that he had spasmodic dysphonia illness, a vocal disease that produces involuntary spasms in the laryngeal muscles.

The illness, often known as “shakey voice,” causes a person’s voice to shatter and have a tight, strained tone.

Working with physicians at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore., Pegues claims he was informed there was no treatment for the illness. 

The condition was caused by something in the brain, according to the doctors.

Pegues began working with medical professionals to find a solution and recently tried Botox as a therapy.

The Botox was injected directly into his vocal cords in an attempt to strengthen them and push them closer together to produce sound.

As a news journalist, he faced a variety of high-pressure circumstances, such as an active shooter or other breaking events. 

He claimed that his spasmodic dysphonia affected his reportage.
