Inside Craghas Drahar Aka The Crabfeeder Story From House Of The Dragon, Meet The First Villian

Unlike its parents’ show, Game of Thrones. House of the Dragons did not wait for the fourth season to unveil its “Big Bad.”

The creepy-looking new threat to Westeros named Craghas Drahar, Aka The Crabfeeder, appeared already in the second episode of the pilot season.

On the other hand, the Night King was only introduced in the fourth season of Game of Thrones. So fans can already smell the urgency and intensiveness in this prequel series.

Actor Daniel Scott-Smith dawns on the character Crabfeeder was once a prince commodore from Myr who served the Triarchy. He is the unsettling figure depicted calmly pinning sailors to stakes on a sandbar, causing them to suffocate while hordes of crabs feast on their remains after picking at their wounds.

Corlys Velaryon first mentioned Craghas Crabfeeder in the first episode when he expressed his concern to King Viserys played by Paddy Considine regarding a Triarchy pirate stifling Westeros’ major commerce route in the Stepstones.

Before the camera cuts to the Small Council, the 2nd episode begins with a horrifying montage of crabs devouring human beings. This is one of Craghas Drahar’s infamous pirate attacks. Later, in the episode’s last scene, the Sea Snake attempts to win Prince Daemon over to his side.

The Rogue Prince, the second episode in the House of the Dragon series, continues to unravel the mystery around King’s Landing’s court. Still, it also frames its narrative with glimpses of Craghas Drahar, also known as Crabfeeder.

But who is this evil character, and what is his motive with Westeros? Those show viewers who are not fans of the Song of Ice and Fire book might not be familiar with the crab guy. 

The first episode whispered his name as the prince admiral of Triarchy. Similarly, according to George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, he is the chief commander of the prince of Myrish. One of the three Free Cities that made up what was referred to as “The Triarchy” during the time is Myr. The other two were named Tyrosh and Lys.

To overthrow the city of Volantis, the Triarchy banded together roughly ten years before the tales of House of the Dragon unfolded. 

Vrabfeeder’s assistance enabled them to defeat the Stepstones. The issue arose when Drahar decided to join the pirates who were harassing the shipping passage instead of continuing to combat them.

By the episode’s conclusion, Craghas Drahar is set to be a wise opponent for both Corlys and Daemon Targaryen.

The Drahar family, established by adventurer and Prince Admiral Craghas “Crabfeeder” Drahar, is a relatively recent addition to the Myrish aristocracy, having only resided in the city for four generations.

The family has a history of being quite aggressive, and the successor to the house is expected to join the Guild of the Blue, a mercenary organization Craghas founded.

Moreover, the house began making their names heard loud in the seven kingdoms following the War of Unification. Yraevor Drahar, then head of the family, led the battlefield and merged victorious, commanding the Guild of the Blue, founded by his grandfather Craghas Drahar. 

After Yraevor’s passing, his young son Tregar took over as the family’s leader.
