The investigation found that Merceda Young was pregnant with Dr. Alex Jeffrey’s child. Alex Jeffrey stabbed his pregnant girlfriend 22 times on October 28, 2013, while she was seated in his jeep near Kent and Division Avenues in Williamsburg.

After driving the jeep along Division Avenue in Williamsburg, Jeffrey removed Young’s body and dumped it at the end of a dead-end street close to the East River.
The investigation indicated that the defendant subsequently left the victim’s belongings, the knife, and his jacket in the water.
Investigators said that after Young’s 14-year-old son revealed that his mom’s boyfriend drove a Jeep, Jeffrey, a married man who had been dating Young for three years, was the main suspect.
When he was arrested on October 30, 2018, close to his Bed-Stuy residence, Jeffrey quickly confessed to stabbing Young, covering her body with a blanket, and then washing the car.
