Who Is Gret Glyer, 32? Fairfax Shooting Victim Is DonorSee CEO

The CEO of DonorSee, 32-year-old Gret Glyer was found shot inside his home in Fairfax. DonorSee is an online platform allowing people to donate to those in need and receive updates on their impact through video. Glyer was leading an organization that has the goal of building a global support network for the world’s poorest.

His death was confirmed by his family and police are looking into the shooting as they have suspected a case of homicide. According to police, they received a call from an adult resident reporting a shooting at 2:57 in the morning after which they arrived at the 9800 block of Bolton Village Court.

When police arrived on the scene, there were two kids living inside the house and the victim had already passed away from his injuries. The precise circumstances and the man’s shooting detail will be revealed after the investigation is completed.

In the meantime, they have left a number 703-385-7959 and an email address of detective Mathew Green “[email protected]”  if anyone finds video footage from the area or any information useful to this case.

Gret used to describe himself as the product of the American dream. His mother was an immigrant from Ecuador and he finds himself grateful to have parents giving him a great upbringing.

Glyer used to live in the suburbs outside Washington D.C where he completed his college and did graduation as well, eventually finding a job at a corporate office. However, he was unhappy and wanted to do something fruitful for the world. 

In the desperation of finding happiness, Gret quit his job and moved to Malawi opting for a teaching job. Within a little span of time, he knew what would make him happy- helping others in need!

Gret founded DonorSee in 2016 and the organization has been helping ever since its establishment. Most recently, it also started the Humanity Fund with the aim of providing relief to the most vulnerable.

He was married and had a beautiful family with two kids. The man had not disclosed his net worth or income, as his life’s aim was in helping others.

As the world lost a young and genuine soul, people have expressed their sadness through several digital platforms.

The broadcasting company WUSA 9 shared the sad news on Facebook where the netizens are sending prayers and condolences to the lost soul and his heartbroken family.

A few hours ago, around 10 p.m on Thursday, Glyer posted his last tweet expressing a hope for the eradication of global poverty. He tweeted, “The day we end poverty, we will throw the world’s biggest party. It will be one of the greatest days of humankind. But we need a location. Perhaps Lake Malawi?”

Who knew, the man carrying such gold thoughts would not be lucky enough to see the next morning.
