Jesse Robredo was a Filipino politician, serving as Secretary of the Interior as well as Local Authorities in President Benigno Aquino III’s cabinet from 2010 to 2012.
Robredo finished elementary school at Naga Parochial School and began high school at Ateneo de Naga University in 1970. At De La Salle University, Robredo earned his bachelor’s degrees in industrial management engineering and mechanical engineering.
Robredo was murdered on August 18, 2012, when the small aircraft he was flying aboard crashed off the shore of Masbate Island. Robredo was a Liberal Party member. He also served as Mayor of Naga, Camarines Sur, for six terms from 1988. In acknowledgment of his accomplishments as mayor of Naga, Robredo received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for his service in government, making him the first Filipino mayor to receive such an honor.
