Holland married Christabel McEwen, his partner of 15 years and the daughter of artist Rory McEwen, on August 30, 2005.

Mabel is the couple’s daughter, and McEwen has a son, Fred, from her previous marriage to Ned Lambton, the 7th Earl of Durham.

The pair owns a home in Kent’s medieval ruins of Cooling Castle.

Holland lives in Westcombe Park, southeast London, where he designed and built his studio, Helicon Mountain, inspired by Portmeirion, the site for the 1960s TV series The Prisoner.

Holland and his former partner Mary Leahy have a son, George, and a daughter, Rose.
