Keaten Mansfield Thoughts On Nuclear Power And Fusion City

Keaten Mansfield, an analyst at the Center for Political Innovation, joined David Barken, a professor of economics, on PressTV’s news review.

He came to discuss the growing energy problem in the United States and advance Fusion City’s solution. The interviewer emphasized that the sharp supply-demand mismatch in the United States is to blame for the soaring energy prices. Mansfield mentioned that in some regions of the country, the price of a gallon of gasoline had reached an all-time high of $8, which is unheard of.

The cost of petrol in Las Angeles averaged $4.50 a gallon, the highest it had been in over ten years. There were also long queues forming at some of the cheaper gas stations. Over the previous half year, the price of natural gas had practically multiplied by two. In 2021, President Joe Biden announced that high gas prices would continue into 2022 and blamed the unwillingness of foreign oil suppliers to expand production for the continued high costs.

Keaten Mansfield of CPI explained why the petro-dollar is on its way out. He recommended taking a page from Venezuela’s playbook and leveraging the country’s vast oil assets to fund and sponsor significant social safety nets. This strategy has been quite effective for Venezuela. In addition, he used the example of Russia and Gazprom, the country’s state-owned oil company. He observed that the United States is not in a situation where it must take oil from the Middle East. It would like to control the energy markets of Eurasia and the Middle East to maintain high oil prices in the United States. It also aims at keeping costs in Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan at deficient levels.

Mansfield continued by elaborating on how the current energy crisis may hasten the transition to green energy in the United States. He said that the solution was utilizing nuclear power and Fusion City.

Fusion City is an enormous tract of land in the middle of the United States designated for constructing nuclear fusion plants. These plants will be able to supply power not only to the United States but also to the rest of the western hemisphere, which includes South America and Asia.
