Who Are Rhaenys Targaryen’s Parents? Father Aemon Targaryen And Mother Joecyln Baratheon

Rhaenys Targaryen was born to Aemon Targaryen and Jocelyn Baratheon. 

Moreover, she is the granddaughter of Jaehaerys I Targaryen, the king who gave her crown to her uncle. Rhaenys is named after her grandfather Jaehaerys’s grandmother, Rhaenys Targaryen, the favorite sister and the wife of Aegon Targaryen, who conquered Westeros with his dragons. 

Her father, Aemon, was named the prince of Dragonstone. He took part in the squires’ melee during the tourney at Duskendale in honor of Lord Darklyn’s wedding and came out victorious. At the time, he was a mystery, hidden beneath the mask and shield. He was knighted after he recognized himself.  

Prince Aemon and Joecyln married each other at the golden wedding. He was killed on Tarth while attempting to halt the island’s invasion by Myrish pirates.

Likewise, Rhaenys was the only child. She didn’t have any siblings. She is the first cousin of Viserys I Targaryen and Daemon Targaryen.

English actress Eve Best has portrayed the role of Rhaenys Targaryen in the HBO series House of the Dragon.

Furthermore, the dragonrider is best known as “The Queen Who Never Was.” Rhaenys’s father died before her grandfather King Jaehaerys did. The old king was left to make a difficult decision to prevent the civil war in King’s Landing. 

As a result, he made the controversial decision to name his second son as his heir. So, instead of Rhaenys, her uncle became the king, and her husband was a part of the king’s court. 

However, according to traditional inheritance law, a lord’s daughter should succeed ahead of his younger brother. It wasn’t applied in the case of Rhaenys.
