Derek Hough was born to parents Marianne and Bruce Hough on the 17th of May, 1985. They met in college in Idaho while on a ballroom dancing team.

His father, Bruce Hough was a journalist, entrepreneur, and politician and was also a radio DJ at one time. Likewise, Bruce also co-founded the company “Gartner Hough Advertising”, and then served as a president at Nutraceutical Corporation.
