On Monday morning, on Congressman Casten's official Twitter, it was announced about the death of his daughter. The post tweeted, "This morning, Congressman Casten's beloved daughter, Gwen(17), passed away. The Casten family requests privacy, and we will be issuing no further comment during this heartbreaking time."

Gwen had recently made an appearance in a campaign video supporting her father's bid for a third term in Congress against fellow incumbent Democrat Rep. Marie Newman.

In the video, Gwen speaks about how turning 18 years would be a big year filled with lots of achievements along with "voting for the first time" and how she calls Congressman Sean Casten, her dad. She championed her father's efforts on new gun laws and protecting abortion access.

Rep. Sean Casten's daughter, Gwen Casten died at the family's Downers Grove home where local police officers were called to the house before 7 am 'for a cold 17-year-old female' the police said. According to the outlet, ' First responders determined that the subject was dead.'

The teenager's death came just days after Rep. Sean Casten said he had 'tremendous pride' in his daughter after she took commencement to organize a 'Stop the Bleed' training at her school to other teens could learn how to fill a gunshot wound during a school shooting.

Congressman, Sean Casten said, "I have both tremendous pride that my daughter took the ambition to organize that and tremendous shame that we as a country are making it the authority of children aged 15, 16, and 17 to do what sitting United States senators don't have the courage to do themselves."

Gwen Casten was a 17-years-old and she was active in the political area and followed in the path of her father by fighting for social causes that she was impassioned about, such as gun control.

The teenager also served as a co-director of the March For Our Lives Illinois chapter, a youth-led movement aimed at intercepting gun violence.

Gwen is the daughter of Sean Casten and his wife Kara. They all live in Downers Grove, Illinois.
