Jeanne had ovarian cancer, which was in stage 4, and her family discovered she carried the BRCA gene after she passed away.

Evert added that after discovering this, she underwent testing and found she also has the gene. She subsequently decided to undergo a total hysterectomy.

She was informed after the operation that she needed additional surgery because she had cancer in her ovaries and fallopian tubes.

She underwent a second surgery after learning she was cancer-free but would still require chemotherapy, which she underwent and finished in May.
