According to the Wikipedia bio of James Luck NZ, Luck grew up in Invercargill, New Zealand, where he studied at Southland Boys’ High School. In Sydney, Australia, he pursued dancing at the Urban Dance Centre.

Luck has performed as a backup dancer for Jesse James, Sia, and Little Mix. He was a backup dancer for Annie Lennox during the 2012 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony.

In 2018, Luck appeared as a guest performer on Dancing with the Stars and served as the judge of the Indian-inspired dance contest, The Great New Zealand Dance Masala.

James (Elektra Shock) was revealed as a judge for Dancing with the Stars: New Zealand on April 9, 2022. In this season, Elektra became renowned as a “lip-sync assassin,” eliminating Coco Jumbo and Jojo Zaho in episodes 1 and 3. In Episode 5, he won the commercial challenge. In episode 7, James was ousted by season champion Kita Mean after being in the bottom two.

His drag name is a play on the phrase “electric shock.” Trinity Ice, her drag mother and a competitor in the first edition of House of Drag, gave her the moniker.
