According to the Wikipedia bio of James Luck NZ, Luck grew up in Invercargill, New Zealand, where he studied at Southland Boys’ High School. In Sydney, Australia, he pursued dancing at the Urban Dance Centre.

Luck has performed as a backup dancer for Jesse James, Sia, and Little Mix. He was a backup dancer for Annie Lennox during the 2012 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony.

In 2018, Luck appeared as a guest performer on Dancing with the Stars and served as the judge of the Indian-inspired dance contest, The Great New Zealand Dance Masala.
