Jack Draper Family Love For Tennis As Parents Were His First Inspiration

Jack Draper parents are Roger Draper and Nicky Draper. Jack mother Nicky is a former junior tennis champion while father is a businessman.

His mother is now a coach, and his father is the former chief executive of the Lawn Tennis Association and Sport England.

The athlete’s passion for the sport developed at a young age as he grew up with a family associated with the game. Thus, he and his brother, Ben Draper, grew up playing tennis under their mom’s guidance. 

Jack spent seven years at Parkside School and two years at Reed’s School. He made his ATP Tour main draw debut in singles at the 2021 Miami Open and secured his career’s biggest win at the Queen’s Club Championships in June.

He has won seven titles on the ITF Men’s World Tennis Tour. Likewise, he won four titles on the ATP Challenger Tour, and ATP ranked him as No. 40 in singles on the 9th of January, 2023. Draper attained a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 477 on the 14th of February 2022.

Ben was also a student-athlete who spent his high school career at Reed’s School and played his collegiate carer for the California Golden Bears, standing 6 feet and 4 inches tall and weighing 198 lbs.

Jack Draper Father Is A Global Business Advisor

Roger Draper serves as the Global Business Advisor to Boston Consulting Group. 

Jack’s dad, who advises Governments, Federations, and Sports clubs around the World, was one of the youngest CEOs in the UK business world to take over as chief executive of Sport England in 2002, per Bolton News.

He was 32 when he joined the English Sports Council and worked there till he joined the Lawn Tennis Association in 2006. Likewise, he also served as the chief executive of Warrington Wolves and executive director of the Super League.

The elder Draper attended Bolton School and graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc (Hons) in PE, sports science, and recreation management. The advisor was also the first student to graduate with international honors in two sports, rugby league and tennis.

Nicky Draper is a former multiple national tennis champion who played across several age groups in her junior days.

Nicky, a former junior British Tennis player, also grew up in an athletic family. Her mom played county tennis for Oxfordshire and Dorset, and her brother played at a reasonable level representing Great Britain.

Following her retirement as an active athlete, she became the head coach at Sutton Tennis and Squash Club, where her children learned tennis when they were toddlers. The former athlete later joined Parkside School in Stoke d’Abernon, Cobham, as a tennis coach. 

Her son attended the same school where she worked from age four to eleven and later went to study at Reed’s School in Cobham. She also shared that Jack picked up a racket for the first time when he was one, and despite being a right-handed writer and thrower, he holds his racket with his left hand.

Jack Draper In A Family Of Four

Jack is one of the two children of Roger and Nicky. He has an older brother named Ben Draper.

Ben was also a student-athlete who played collegiate tennis at the University of California from the 2017/18 season to the 2020/21 season. After earning his bachelor’s degree, he enrolled at Wake Forest University School of Business to attain his master’s in business management.

The athlete attended Reed’s School, and his high school teammate Jack Molloy also played for the California Golden Bears. The duo also won three ITF doubles titles and competed in the main draw of doubles in the 2016 Junior Championships at Wimbledon. 

Later Draper teamed up with Bjorn Hoffmann and won five times to reach the ITA Northwest Regional Championships finals in 2019 and reach the doubles round of 16. They also reached the semifinals of the Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship in 2020 and ranked 38th in the nation during the 3rd of March Oracle ITA poll.
