Marios Georgiou doesn’t have a good relationship with his parents, especially his mother. 

Born to a Cypriot father and a Filipino mother, Georgiou looks more Asian than Cypriot. He comes from mixed ethnicity, and many people confuse him for being Asian. 

According to Georgiou’s interview, he didn’t have the support of his parents while growing up. His father supported him during the end days of his life, but the gymnast’s mother abandoned him. 

His mother used to work at the Four Seasons; when that job folded, she ran out of money. So, she left the island and left him too, abandoning him to be with her other family.

Furthermore, Marios’s father had already passed away. Marios had a heart attack when he was 65 years old. The gymnast was training and couldn’t meet his father when he passed away in 2017.
