What Is Wrong With Comedian Peter Kay? Details On His Health

After stepping away from the spotlight for years due to family circumstances that may or may not have anything to do with health issues, Peter Kay recently returned to the stage for his first live performance in 11 years.

The Car Share and Phoenix Nights comedian, who last toured in 2011, began his Dance For Life tour at the Manchester Central Convention Complex, where he DJed and danced.

As archive clips of his hit Channel 4 sitcom, Max & Paddy’s Road To Nowhere, appeared on the big screen, Peter, 48, took to the DJ decks in a sparkly jacket adorned with colorful records and a rainbow sweatband.

Peter Kay has never disclosed any health issues or illnesses that he may be experiencing, but when he went missing for years with no explanation, fans speculated that he could be suffering from anything from liver disease to mitochondrial disease.

Kay announced in December 2017 that his Live Arena Tour and Dance For Life shows would be canceled, saying that he was heartbroken to have to cancel all of his upcoming work projects due to family circumstances.

Kay broke his silence three months later, in March 2018, after going under the radar for a while.

Kay mentioned a charity event hosted by The Lily Foundation to raise awareness for mitochondrial disease, at which new episodes of Car Share would be screened.

He had only good things to say about the foundation even writing in a blog post on the Ticketmaster website saying that The Lily Foundation is an inspiring charity that aims to improve the lives of children ailing from Mitochondrial Disease.

What Is The Age Of Comedian Peter Kay?

Comedian Peter Kay was born to engineer father Michael and housewife mother Deirdre from County Tyrone in 1973 on July 2, making him 48 years of age. 

Peter has kept details about his family relationship private. Despite the fact that his stand-up shows are full of hilarious anecdotes about his Irish mother, father, grandmother, and sister, he prefers to keep his marriage and children out of the spotlight.

He was able to land a part-time job as a stand-up comedian after studying media performance at the University of Salford. He won the North West Comedian of the Year award and later went on to win Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny competition in 1997.

For his stand-up show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1998, he was nominated for a Perrier Award.

Family Details Of Peter Kay

Family man Peter Kay married Susan Gargan in 2001 and they have a son named Charlie Michael Kay. After three years of dating, Peter and Susan tied the knot.

They met in a nightclub while Peter was working at his local cinema in Bolton and she was working as a cashier at Boots in their hometown. Their son was given the names of his grandfathers, with Susan’s late father’s name being Charlie.

He and Susan are the co-founders of Goodnight Vienna Productions, the company that produces Peter’s comedy shows such as Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere, and Car Share.

However, shortly after Charlie’s birth, Peter spoke to the Mirror about how becoming a father had changed him. They have three children and have worked hard to shield them from the eye of the public.
