After that, in January 2005, she again tied her knot with Sanjeev Bhaskar. He was the actor who plays her grandson in The Kumars at No 42. Their marriage ceremony took place in the Lichfield register office, Staffordshire.

Meera Syal was born on 27 June 1961 in Wolverhampton, England. She is a British comedian, writer, journalist, and actress.

She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 1997 New Year Honours and  2003 was listed in The Observer as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy.

The actress won the National Student Drama Award for Performing in One of Us which was written by Jacqueline Shapiro while at university. She was given the Nazia Hassan Foundation award in 2003.

Along with this, she has an honorary degree from SOAS, the University of London, and the University of Roehampton. In 2017, she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
