Steve Hansen Daughter Whitney Hansen Following Her Family Footsteps

The daughter of Steve Hansen is Whitney Hansen, the assistant coach for NZ women’s rugby team. Stephen William Hansen is a New Zealand rugby union coach and also a former player.

While Steve’s daughter Whitney is following in his footsteps and building a good career in coaching, Steve supports Whitney and is very proud of her.

He lived with his parents’ Desmond and Lauris Hansen, and they used to work as dairy farmers on the Taieri Plain. Steve attended Outgram Primary School, The Taieri High School, and Christchurch Boys High School too.

In 1996, Hansen started his coaching career with Canterbury provincial rugby union team. In 2012, Steve was appointed as the new head coach of the New Zealand National team and last assisted them at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Steve Hansen’s daughter Whitney Hansen is a current assistant coach of the New Zealand women’s rugby union team, Ferns.

Whitney has played as the entire front row, blindside flanker, and No. 8 while she played 111 games for Canterbury University.

The team had no forwards coach then, so Hansen started her coaching journey while she was still playing for the University.

Whitney is also a deputy principal at a Christchurch school. Later she got a role as the set piece coach for the champion Canterbury women’s side.

She later even worked as an assistant coach for the Matatu Super Rugby Aupiki squad. Hansen got promoted as the assistant coach after working in an intern coaching role with the Ferns for the last two years.

Rugby mentor Des Hansen is the Ferns assistant coach’s grandfather.

1. Before Hansen worked with Canterbury’s U18 girls’ team, she was the player for Canterbury. In 2017 she was shifted to a coach of the same team.
2. From being a coach for her own team to being the Ferns’ assistant coach, Whitney has gained a lot of international experience.

The assistant head coach for the Frens turned 35 this year. It is estimated that Whitney has already married but kept her marriage life very far away from the media.

Whitney is now mainly focused on her career as the Ferns’ assistant coach. Therefore, no news regarding her personal life is available.

However, if Whitney hadn’t started her journey by coaching, she would now be returning to St Francic Assisi School in Christchurch and working there as the deputy principal.

Hansen has dreamt to become a successful head coach like his father Steve Hansens one day. She takes her very own father as her role model.
